The international market of copper
In terms of the area distributing, there are five area in the world where conclude rich copper resources: 1) South America Peru and Chile Andes 2) America wet part Los Angeles area 3) Aferica Congo and Zambia. 4) Republic of Kazakhstan 5) East and middle part of Canada.
In term of country distributing, world copper resources are mainly centralize in Chile,America, Zambia, Peru ect. Chile has the richest copper resources in the world, its metal copper storage volume accounts for one-fourth of the world’s total storage.
Human has a long history for melting copper, but it was for a long time that as the the method for melting copper is relatively original, so the output of copper is very low. It was until 16th century that apperas modern melting copper method, from that time, the output of copper had obvious increasing. In 1928, world refined copper output is 1.67million ton. After world war, world melting industry develop very fast, in 1950, world refined copper output is only 3.15 million tons, in 1992, refined copper output has reached 11 million tons. In different ages, the development speed of metling copper is different, in 1950s, copper producing development speed increased 4.7%, in 1960s is 4.2%, 1970s is 2.07%, 1980s is 1.5%, until 1990s beginning and middle, with the decreasing of producing cost and higher copper price stimulation, , refined copper’s price has increased sharply.
In 2000, world year output reached 14.68 tons. Main producing countries and areas are as follow: Chile 2.628 million tons, America 1.72 million tons, Japan 1.455 tons,China 1.33 million tons, european 2.38 million tons.
